Pakistan Seizes Control Of JeM Headquarters Totally Fabricated Report by Indian Media: Minister

Pakistan has categorically rejected Indian allegations that a madrassah in Bahawalpur, which the Punjab government recently took administrative control of, is the headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).

In a video message on social media, Pakistan’s Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry explained that the Punjab government took administrative control of Madrassatul Sabir and Jamia-e-Masjid Subhanallah in Bahawalpur in line with the decisions taken during the National Security Council (NSC) meeting held on Thursday and as part of the National Action Plan (NAP).

“During yesterday’s NSC meeting yesterday it was decided that NAP will be fully implemented. Some steps were taken in this regard yesterday and today the Punjab government took administrative control of a madrassah in Bahawalpur,” the information minister said.

“This is the madrassah that India was doing propaganda over and alleging that it is the headquarters of JeM. Tomorrow, the Punjab government will give media persons a tour of the madrassahs so everyone can see how it is functioning and see the truth for themselves,” he added.

Stating that “around 700 students are studying at the madrassah”, the information minister said, “This step [to take administrative control] has nothing to do with the attack in Jammu and Kashmir.” “NAP is our own security document over which all political parties are in consensus and we are implementing it,” he stressed.

The government of Pakistan, accordin to the Indian media seized control of the headquarters run by Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), the terror group. Pakistan is facing intense pressure from the global community to curtail militant groups running in Pakistan due to recent Pulwama attacks.

The United Nations Security Council covering 15 nations, including Pakistan’s friendly nation China, named Jaish-e-Mohammad in a statement condemning in the “strongest terms” the deadly terror attack committed by Pakistan-based JeM in Pulwama and stressed on the need to punish organizers and financers of such heinous acts and bring them to justice.

Pakistan’s Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry informed Pakistani media saying, “The Punjab government has taken over the control of the JeM headquarters in Bahawalpur”.

“The government of Punjab has taken over the control of a campus comprising Madressatul Sabir and Jama-e-Masjid Subhanallah in Bahawalpur…and appointed an administrator to manage its affairs,” the information minister said.

On Thursday, Pakistan also banned the 2008 Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed-led Jamat-ud-Dawa and its charity wing Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation. In Past, the two outfits were kept on the watchlist of the interior ministry. The Jamat-ud-Dawa is considered to be the front organization for the LeT. The LeT is responsible for carrying out the Mumbai attack and also declared as a foreign terrorist organization by the US in June 2014.

Pakistan’s Interior Ministry also issued a statement saying, “has been taken in line with the decision of the National Security Committee meeting held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan”.

“The Islamic seminaries on the campus have a faculty of 70 teachers and currently 600 students were studying in it”, the statement said, adding that the Punjab Police are providing security and protection to the campus.
