Will Bhilwara become the next Italy? 45 cases of coronavirus have been reported in Rajasthan, out of which 21 corona positive cases are from Bhilwara district alone. 

The first death from corona infection in the state also took place in Bhilwara on Thursday. Later, another person died due to coronavirus, which got the regional officials anxious.

The second person who died after testing positive for novel coronavirus was 73. According to an official release, the deceased person had a kidney-related chronic ailment and was diabetic. The patient suffered a brain stroke and subsequently went into a coma.

The Health Department has surveyed 332 medical teams, 5 lakh members of one lakh houses in the city and 19 lakh rural people through 1948 teams.

Rajasthan medical minister Raghu Sharma has released the video saying that corona positive cases have increased in the last three-four days. Out of nearly 28 lakh people of Bhilwara, 24 lakh people have been screened.

He said, “The sample from Bhilwara is being investigated. In the next two days, 700 samples will be tested further. The screening of the remaining four lakh people from rural areas will be completed in the next two days.”

Do not equate Bhilwara with Italy; the situation is under control here,” Raghu Sharma said on Thursday, objecting to the local media coverage of the town as the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak in the state.

Bhilwara town has been under curfew for a week now and the rise in the graph has raised concerns in New Delhi. Rajendra Bhatt, Bhilwara’s district collector, said: “no one knows yet how corona entered Bhilwara”. But, a war-level effort is on to combat the spread, he said.

Earlier, as the EurAsian Times reported, Bhilwara city in Rajasthan had become a major cause concern for the Indian government. Bhilwara is approximately  250 km from the capital Jaipur and has become a hotbed for the infection – almost 50% of the cases of Rajasthan have been reported from the city.

Earlier on Saturday as per the BBC, three doctors and three nurses at a private hospital tested positive for coronavirus. The Rajasthan government has put the city under lockdown along with nearby areas of Jhunjhunu, Sikar and Jaipur.

The Rajasthan Government imposed a “civil curfew”, forbidding residents from coming out of their homes and outlawing public meetings. They closed schools, colleges, offices, and prevented people from leaving or entering the district. The private hospital was sealed and its 88 patients moved to other healthcare facilities in the area.

Earlier, as EurAsian Times reported, the Rajasthan government had stated that it will screen the city’s entire population of 4.5 lakh. “We have 300 medical teams that are going door-to-door to screen people,” Rohit Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary of Rajasthan Health Department, told BBC. “We will screen all the residents of Bhilwara and those in the neighbouring towns and villages.”
