On November 11, 2019, the Second Annual Azerbaijan-Pakistan-Turkey Brotherhood Celebration was held in Los Angeles, the first one being held in 2018 and hosted by Consulate General of Azerbaijan
The event was hosted at the official residence of the Consul General of Turkey Can Oguz, where the meeting was celebrated by Consulates General of three countries – Azerbaijan, Pakistan and Turkey as stated by Consulate General of Azerbaijan and reported by News.Az.
Around 150 leaders and members of Azerbaijani, Pakistani and Turkish communities came together this year to celebrate strong ties and brotherhood among the nations.
A wide range of speakers of this celebration included Consul General Nasimi Aghayev of Azerbaijan, Consul General Can Oguz of Turkey, Consul General Abdul Jabbar Memon of Pakistan, Irvine City Council member Farrah Khan, Los Angeles City Human Relations Commissioner Amna Qazi, Chairman of the Council of Pakistan Adnan Khan, President of the California Azerbaijan Friendship Association Kimiya Mammadova, and Turkish community leader Metin Mangir.
The special guests of this year’s celebration were a delegation of the Azerbaijani community of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, consisting of the chairman of the community Tural Ganjaliyev, as well as members of its Board Durdane Agayeva, Jeyhun Alakbarov and Gulmammad Mammadov.
The Chairman of the community Tural Ganjaliyev, in his statement, informed the guests and delegations about the ongoing military occupation and ethnic cleansing of Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region by neighbouring Armenia.
Ganjaliyev also emphasised the cultural and ethnic cleansing against the Azerbaijani heritage carried out by Armenia in the territories currently occupied by Azerbaijan. The Chairman was also extremely thankful to both the Pakistani and Turkish delegations for the endless support and understanding of matter against such cleansing and times of conflict.
As part of closing speech, the chairman thanked the Pakistani and Turkish communities of Los Angeles for their constant and enduring support to Azerbaijan’s just position in this painful conflict.
The celebration was received with much interest and praise for such initiative among the communities of all 3 nations who have now decided to further strengthen their cooperation and interaction in Los Angeles.
The Council of Pakistan was one of the co-sponsors of the celebration apart from the Consulates General of Azerbaijan.
