Ahead of the 2+2 dialogue to bolster India-US Relations, the two nations are expected to sign the Communications Capability and Security Agreement (COMCASA) by the end of the August, as per a report by EurAsian Times. This agreement will enable the transfer of vital communication security equipment from the US to India under a legal framework. The pact shall facilitate interoperability between the two forces thus taking bilateral ties to a new level.

The COMCASA Agreement is one of the three agreements which the US considers as being a foundation to close bilateral military ties with other nations. The signing of this agreement will facilitate the installation of high end secured communications equipment on military equipment sold to India by the US.
The Indian Military is presently using the C-130Js and P8I surveillance aircraft and a deal has already been signed for Apache AH 64E attack helicopters. India will also be procuring armed guardian drones from the US.
As EurAsian Times reported earlier, the 2+2 Dialogue in September will be held between the defence ministers and the foreign affairs minister of the two nations in the US. This dialogue was supposed to be held earlier but it was postponed by the US due to some unexplained reasons.
The US has also agreed to give India a waiver from sanctions for buying defence equipment from Russia. India will be acquiring S-400 missile defence systems from Russia under an INR 39000 crores deal. Earlier the US has warned India of sanctions if India goes about purchasing any military equipment from Russia. The US had also offered its THAAD missiles to India as an alternative to the Russian S-400 missile defence systems.
The US has also asked India to cease oil imports from Iran. The first round of US sanctions on Tehran was imposed on August 7 bringing the Iranian economy to a standstill. India is the second largest importer of oil from Iran after China.
