More than two-thirds of the world defied threats from the US President Donald Trump and voted in the General Assembly of the United Nations (UNSC) in favor of the draft resolution thus rejecting Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
These countries ignored the threat from the United States of cutting financial aid and voted against the US hegemony. Of the total of 193 countries in the General Assembly, 128 supported the resolution submitted by Yemen and Turkey on behalf of the Arab Group and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Nine nations voted against the resolution: the United States, Israel, Togo, Guatemala, Honduras, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Palau, and Nauru. Thirty-five States, including Canada, Australia, Mexico, Argentina, Poland, and Hungary abstained, while 21 States missed the meeting.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mouloud Jawish Oglu said voting on the General Assembly resolution was important because he knew the Palestinians were not alone, and criticized the US threats to vote for the resolution, saying American bullying was unacceptable.
