‘Will Annihilate US Forces in Syria: Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan responded to the announcement by the United States on Sunday that it plans to set up 30,000-strong border force in Northern Syria in order to defend the territory held by Kurdish-led fighters. 

In response to the same the Syrian government, and President Tayyip Erdogan, said that they would be crushing the border force while driving the US troops out from Syria. Russia too remarked on the statements by the US saying that the border force was a part of the plan by the US to gain control of the Syrian region.

What comes as a surprise is a response to the announcement by Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan who said that they would ‘strangle’ the force before it’s even born. During a speech in Ankara, Tayyip spoke of the United States saying that the country they call their ally now plans to set up a ‘terror army’ on their borders. He said the terror army has nothing else to target other than Turkey. He further added that their mission thus is now to strangle the force before it’s even born. Speaking on northern Syria Erdogan said Turkey had completed its preparations for the operation in the area.

Need Protection from Ankara – Damascus

The Kurdish-led Syrian region is reportedly threatened by Ankara and Damascus against which the fighters say they now need protection from the Border force. Kurdish politician Fawza Youssef said the border force is need between their area and others to prevent any and all threats. She added that the protection is needed until the region achieves a state of calm following a political settlement.

Since the year of 2014, the United States has been sending troops to the battleground to drive out Daesh militants. Apart from being a participant in the international coalition, the United States has over 2,000 special forces troops on the Syrian soil.
