At the time when the ties between Islamabad and New Delhi have weakened because of the abrogation of Article 370, the statement by Gandapur has given rise to another controversy. In the video, the Minister is threatening India and other countries that are in support of India over the Kashmir issue with missile attacks.
In the caption, Pakistan journalist who uploaded the video writes ‘I hope Trump received this message.’ This could be read as a direct threat to Russia, France, and the US as they backed India on the Article 370 move.
A few weeks ago, the ANI, an Indian news agency, had reported that Russia supported India on the abrogation of Article 370 as an “internal and domestic” issue. Among the permanent members of the UNSC, Russia became the first nation to formally state that the abrogation of the Article was an internal matter for India.

Russian envoy Nikolay Kudashev had earlier stated that Moscow respects India’s stand on the matter. Moreover, Russia also strongly supports India receiving a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council. Russia has also vocally backed India joining the NSG and APEC.
France, which blocked China’s move at the UNSC when Beijing sought an open formal session on the Kashmir issue also supported India over Kashmir and advocated a bilateral dialogue between India and Pakistan.
Following that, the French Foreign Ministry in a statement said that it is up to the two countries, to resolve this dispute under a bilateral political dialogue.
Earlier, at the UNSC following the Pulwama terror attack in Kashmir, France had garnered support for India’s demand that Masood Azhar should be declared as a global terrorist.
Among several other countries, the US also supported India over the take on Article 370. The Trump administration said that while it is concerned about the situation in the valley, it also supports India’s objectives and agendas that resulted in the abrogation of Article 370.

The US also announced that there will be no change in its policy for Kashmir. The US has been maintaining that it’s a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan and it is up to the two countries to decide on the pace and scope of the talks on the issue.
