Indian Army is all set to get advanced artillery guns – American 145 ultralight Howitzer M-777 and Self-Propelled K-9 Vajra artillery guns. Twenty-five ultralight Howitzer M-777 will be brought to India in a ready to use in a war condition. The guns will serve the Indian Army to target the enemy posts in hilly regions.

The remaining 125 ultralight Howitzer M-777 guns will be supplied by March in 2019, will be built with the assistant of Mahindra Defence.
Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Defence Minister will instate the weapons into the India Army at the School of Artillery near Nashik in Maharashtra. This deal of the two new artillery guns comes almost after 30 years since the Bofors Scam.
The Indian Army will get all the weapons by 2021 while, receiving five weapons per month. The gun can fire up to to 30 km and since they are light weighted, they will also help the forces during combat in hilly regions.
The guns can be carried using helicopters as well. They are most likely to be used in combat-like situations with China and Pakistan.
The self-propelled K-9 Vajra is being manufactured built with the assistance of South Korea. The speed of the gun is 67 km per hour, regardless of the landscape and terrain, with five personnel in each. They can aim at enemy locations at a distance of 30-40 km. The Indian Army is all set to get 100 K-9 Vajras.
In the 1980s, India had bought the Bofors artillery guns, but the deal was stained with accusations allegations of corruption by Congress. Because of the consequences, no deal was pitched in for artillery guns for almost thirty years.
