Extraordinary Movement Of Troops On India-Pakistan Border; Another Clash On Cards?

Pakistan Army spokesman Asif Ghafoor said the intensification of border conflict with the Indian Army along the Line of Control (LoC) is an effort by New Delhi to divert the world’s attention from violent protests going on in the country.

Ghafoor tweeted that the provocative statements made by the Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat regarding the preparations for escalation along the LoC aimed to divert the world’s attention from the citizenship law passed by the Modi government.

Indian PM Narendra Modi’s move to drive the law through parliament last week has ignited nationwide protests that have often turned violent, with six people killed.

Earlier, Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat said that situation at Line of Control (LoC) can deteriorate anytime. General Rawat asked the soldiers to remain on high alert to face any kind of situation at the LoC.

On Tuesday, the Indian Army claimed to have had foiled a BAT (Border Action Team) aggression by the Pakistan Army along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir and killing two Pakistani Special Services Group (SSG) commandos. There was no confirmation from Islamabad.

“Provocative statements and preparations for escalation along LOC by Indian COAS appear to be an effort, as usual, to divert world attention from widespread protests in India against CAB.”

Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor also stated that the Pakistan armed forces will respond to any misadventure or aggression by the Indian Army.

Meanwhile, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi criticised the highly ‘irresponsible’ statement by Indian army chief Bipin Rawat and said New Delhi will be given a befitting reply in case of any misadventure. “Our intelligence agencies have noticed extraordinary movement along the Line of Control (LoC),” said FM Qureshi.
