The joint U.S.-Israeli military strikes on Iran have drawn sharp criticism from China’s military-affiliated accounts on social media.
A post from @ChinaMilBugle, reportedly the official press account of China’s armed forces, highlighted “five lessons” derived from the recent clashes in the Middle East.
Presented in graphic format with bilingual text, it indirectly critiques U.S. military actions and discusses Iran’s vulnerabilities.
The five lessons, as outlined in the post, are:
- Deadliest Threat: The Enemy Within: This hints at internal betrayal that can sabotage Iran’s security, making the U.S. The Israeli attack was much more effective. The post suggests that Iran’s challenges may arise from internal divisions or intelligence leaks that could seriously endanger Iran’s fightback.
- Costliest Miscalculation: Blind Faith in Peace: The post appears to warn against over-reliance on diplomacy or believing that negotiations will deter aggression. The timing of the strikes clearly shows that, despite being involved in “peace talks,” an adversary can opt to use force.
- Coldest Reality: The Logic of Superior Firepower: This underscores the bitter reality that military superiority, as in the cases of the UU.S.and Israel, often dictates outcomes. The military operations by the U.S. and Israel reinforced the theory of “might is right.”
- Cruelest Paradox: The Illusion of Victory: This appears to suggest that while military operations may provide tactical gains, they risk long-term blowback and create regional instability, just like Iraq, Syria, or Libya.
- Ultimate Reliance: Self-Reliance: The most important takeaway that Iran has been working on for decades, i.e., self-reliance and not depending on others. This echoes China’s doctrine of building indigenous capabilities to avoid Iran’s fate of facing superior firepower without adequate defenses.
In another long post, it wrote on X: China strongly condemns the targeting of children in attacks, urges parties to the conflict to fulfill their obligations under international humanitarian law and protect children from the ravages of war and uphold the most basic moral conscience of humanity, said China’s permanent representative to the UN Fu Cong at a UN Security Council (UNSC) meeting presided by UU.S.first lady #MelaniaTrump on Monday.
Attacks on schools are one of the six grave violations against children identified by the #UN and should be firmly condemned and resolutely opposed, said Fu Cong, noting that the international community should step up investigations into and accountability for incidents involving the harm to children and the destruction of schools, and work together to prevent further atrocities. #Melania‘s speech centered around the role of education for children in “advancing tolerance and world peace,” according to the BBC.
“We have been reminded of this truth over the last two days,” she told the #UNSC. “Schools in #Israel, the #UnitedArabEmirates, #Qatar, #Bahrain, and #Oman have closed and moved to remote learning owing to the ongoing military operations in the region,” she said. Melania’s speech came after Iranian media’s reports that at least 165 people, most of them likely children, were killed in a strike on a girls’ elementary school in southern Iran on Saturday.
The search for survivors in the rubble of the #ShajarahTayyebeh School in the southern town of #Minab ended Sunday, according to #MohammadRadmehr, the governor of Minab, Iranian state media reported. It appeared to be the deadliest attack in the ongoing American-Israeli bombing campaign.
Shortly before Monday’s session began, Iran’s Ambassador to the UN, #AmirSaeidIravani, said it was “deeply shameful and hypocritical” for the #U U.S.to convene a meeting on protecting children during conflict while launching airstrikes on Iranian cities.
Meanwhile, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi told his Israeli counterpart that Beijing was opposed to military strikes on Iran. Beijing, a close partner of Tehran, has called for a ceasefire and condemned Khamenei’s killing as a “serious violation”.
Speaking to Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, Wang avoided outright condemnation and said China advocated resolving issues through “dialogue and consultation”, according to state news agency Xinhua.
“The recent Iran-US negotiations were making obvious progress… Regrettably, this process has been interrupted by gunfire,” Wang said.
Wang said: “Force cannot truly solve problems — instead, it will only bring new problems and severe after-effects.” “China calls for an immediate halt to military operations to prevent the conflict from further spreading and getting out of control,” he added.
