Can Cancer Treatment be linked to high income and happiness? Researchers are exploring the possibilities of defeating cancer by the simple act of being surrounded by happy thoughts. Scientists at the Israel Institute of Technology managed to contract the cancerous tumours in rats by manipulating the tegmental area of their brains. This same area controls motivation, expectations and positivity of emotions and thoughts.

What is the Latest Trend in Cancer Treatment Suggested by Top Oncologists?

As reported by Quartz, the researchers experimented on two sets of mice. The mice in both these sets were implanted with cancer cells. For one of the set, they manipulated the emotional region of the brain while for the other set the researchers did nothing. Interestingly for the set of mice in which the emotions were manipulated, the cancer cells shrank by almost half.

According to the World Health Organisation, cancer is the second leading cause of deaths world over. Roughly 70% of the deaths caused due to cancer are seen in nations which fall under the category of either low income or the middle-income countries. Nearly 1 out of every 6 deaths globally is due to cancer. The most important of all risk factors is Tobacco which amounts to as much as 22% of the deaths caused by cancer.
